Peer review under responsibility of Southeast University. This algorithm was implemented in a virtual scripting environment to generate accurate virtual counterparts of historical or extant Siheyuan houses revealing the tacit computational rules underlying traditional Chinese architecture. Based on a historical analysis deriving from Fengshui theory, the Gongcheng Zuofa Zeli ancient construction manual, and craftsmen's experience, this paper describes a parametric algorithm capable of producing Siheyuan variants within a 4D CAD environment which by transforming the original design principles into an algorithm contributes to an understanding of Siheyuan ty-pology and their preservation. Preserving the few remaining has become a necessity, but many contemporary architects lack an understanding of their design principles. Many Beijing Siheyuan, a type of Chinese vernacular housing with significant cultural value, have been lost in recent years. The research methodology can be universally applied to the integrated practice for translating cultural heritage into the current realm of digital technologies. Finally, the feasibility of parametric generation in the heritage realm of conventional Chinese lattice windows is proved. Three typical types of lattice windows with different patterns are studied in turn. Therefore, this research focuses on developing parametric systems to create rule-based algorithms adapted to the automatic generation of different lattice windows following the underlying logic of the geometry according to the topology and cultural context. Because emerging technologies can provide highly-efficient modelling and fabrication solutions, it inspires us to intersect the conventional generation of lattice windows in conjunction with digital methodologies. Conventional generation and fabrication require complex knowledge and skilful handicraft techniques respectively. It provides the functions of illuminance, ventilation, decoration and organising the landscape. He was stoned to death by the Jewish council after accusing them of murdering the Messiah. The conventional Chinese lattice window is a widely-used architectural component in the Chinese classical garden. Saint Stephen was the first Christian martyr. The first Christian saints – after the Virgin Mary, John the Baptist and the Apostles – were the martyrs. The martyrs were put to death for refusing to renounce their Christian faith. They often refused to make sacrifices to the pagan gods of the Roman state religion. With a quick guide, however, you can learn to spot saints in Christian art:ĭiscover the attributes of saints – symbols which help the viewer identify people in paintingsĭo you know your patron saints? Particular communities and professions often have a chosen saint However, the subjects are often more puzzling to us now, particularly if we are not familiar with the Bible or Christianity. When the pictures were painted, viewers would have recognised the saints and events shown. Many of the paintings in the National Gallery are of Christian subjects, including saints and scenes from their lives. ![]()

Perna has ordered a reorganization of how depots distribute ammunition to the Army's combat units, most of which are based in the United States. The service also plans to spend $508 million on small- and medium-caliber ammunition versus the $382 million it spent last year. The Army plans to buy 5,112 Hellfire missiles this year compared to last year's buy of 2,309. In the service's fiscal 2020 budget request, it is increasing its investment in every type of ammunition except artillery shells, a heavy investment area in the Army's fiscal 2019 budget. Perna's comments come at a time when the Army continues to replenish its ammunition stocks as it prepares to face an equally formidable foe such as Russia or China on the battlefield. “That means we must first ensure that the capability we have here in can receive, store and issue munitions in a timely, effective manner.” Gus Perna told an audience at a March 14 Association of the United States Army event. “This means having the right munitions – small-caliber to precision munitions – where we need them at the right time and the right place,” Gen.
